Students returning from a study abroad program in Italy can receive 2 to 3 credits if the contents of the courses taken abroad relates to some aspect of Italian culture. Students can receive credits for courses dealing with Italian culture offered by other departments. At least 3 courses should be taken in the Italian program at Northwestern. Exceptions to this guideline can be discussed with the Program Director.
Current WCAS policy states that courses offered by other institutional participants in the Semester On-Line Program may count as elective credit toward graduation, but that individual departments or programs determine whether these courses count toward majors or minors. The Department of French & Italian will not credit these or any other on line courses toward the major or minor, including as related courses.
