FQ15: Faculty Promotions

We are proud to announce the recent promotions of three of our faculty professors. Margaret Dempster was promoted from Assistant Professor of Instruction in French to Associate Professor of Instruction in French. Dominique Licops was promoted to Associate Professor of Instruction. Patricia Scarampi was promoted to the rank of Assistant Professor of Instruction.  Congratulations to these valued members of our department!

FQ15: New Faculty Member – Christopher Davis

Christopher Davis holds a BA in Classics from McGill University and a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of Michigan. His research is focused on medieval French, Occitan and Classical literatures, particularly lyric poetry, medieval theories of poetry and language, medieval textual culture and the circulation of medieval Francophone Literatures in a Mediterranean context. Before coming to Northwestern, he was a Mellon postdoctoral fellow in Classics at Kalamazoo College, the ACLS/Mellon New Faculty Fellow in French and Comparative Literature at U-C, Berkeley and a Visiting Lecturer in French and Italian at Princeton.

FQ15: New Department Chair – Nasrin Qader

We are excited to announce our new Chair, Nasrin Qader, a comparatist who works at the intersection of Francophone African literature, Arabic literature of the Maghreb, Islamic thought and mysticism, and contemporary literary and visual theory. Professor Qader is a former co-director of the French Interdisciplinary Group and a core faculty member in the programs of Comparative Literary Studies and African Studies. We all look forward to the energy and dynamism she will bring to the office of the chair, and are excited to begin working with her in September.
