Xinyi Wei is a PhD candidate in Comparative Literary Studies with a home department in French and Italian. She holds her BA in Lettres Modernes and her MA in Comparative Literature from Paris-Sorbonne University (Paris IV). She also spent a year studying in the UK at the University of Exeter. Her Master’s dissertations are focused on the symbolic power of female figures in French, Chinese and British novels and short stories from later 19th to early 20th century. Her general research interests include the representation of public and intimate space in novelistic writing, gender identity and familial relationship, and translation and reception.
