Abigail Stahl

Ph.D. 2015

Abigail Stahl defended her thesis in Spring of 2015 at Northwestern University. She received her B.A. in Political Science and French & Francophone Studies and an M.A. in French & Francophone Studies from the University of Notre Dame. Her primary research interests are 18th- and early 19th-century French literature. She is currently working on her dissertation, entitled “Germaine de Staël's System of Sentiment: The Passions in Theory and Practice." Her other interests are 18th- and 19th-century aesthetic theory, historiography of the French Revolution and depictions of the Revolution in literature. Abigail is currently a Program Coordinator for the School of Literatures, Cultural Studies and Linguistics at the University of Illinois - Chicago.
